The child sponsorship program selects children that are in most need of financial support to provide for their school fees and meals at New Hope School. There are two sponsorship options below:
$150 to provide school fees and two meals a day for a primary aged child for one year
$300 to provide school fees for a high school student for one year
Sponsors are given the opportunity to correspond with their sponsored student, through letters, a few times a year.
Child sponsorship is a great opportunity for a person looking to give to New Hope School, long term. A person looking to only sponsor a child for one year may be more interested in supporting one of the many projects that New Hope Fund supports.
A note about the sponsorship program: The sponsorship program is designed to support New Hope School, as a whole and individual students and their families. The annual sponsorship fee covers the student’s school fees, which goes towards the expenses of the school. This includes school supplies, teacher salaries, food for school meals and much more. With the low economy in Kenya and the poverty faced by these students and their families, the school could not continue without the support of New Hope Fund. With that being said, since the start of New Hope Fund, in 2013, we have learned a lot. Even those facing great poverty need to work for something, to see value in what they are doing. We have found that paying 100% of a student’s needs, often causes the student or the family of the student to not value the education and help they are receiving. Other than specific exceptions (mostly orphans), all sponsored students are expected to pay just under 25% of the standard school fees. The school is very understanding of families that are in hard situations. We work with families that find it too difficult to cover the 25%.
